The faculty was established as an independent entity in the academic year 1988–1989 to meet the growing demand for preparing qualified educational professionals equipped with the skills and competencies required by both the local and international job markets. It also ensures alignment with national and international accreditation standards while fostering critical and creative thinking, transparency, integrity, objectivity, and other ethical values essential for scientific and educational research. This commitment supports sustainable development opportunities and promotes integration with other vital sectors.
The faculty is dedicated to maintaining its steady progress on solid foundations by embracing the latest advancements in educational research and best practices in teaching and learning. To achieve this, the faculty has appointed highly qualified professors and signed several academic agreements with local and international institutions to exchange expertise and learn from leading countries in education and teacher preparation. Additionally, the Faculty has established strategic partnerships with the Ministry of Education and its various directorates across the country to facilitate student field training. The faculty has also made significant strides in obtaining international accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) for several of its programs and remains committed to fostering a culture of quality and data collection across all its programs and specializations.
Furthermore, the Faculty is actively working to enhance its infrastructure, lecture halls, and facilities to improve both student learning outcomes and faculty research capabilities. It is also in the process of establishing a smart classroom and providing laptops for students and faculty members. Additionally, the Faculty plans to develop its computer labs and establish a new laboratory to support the integration of technology in education, aligning with the goals of Yarmouk University.
