The department was established in the academic year 1991/1992 under the name of Educational Psychology.  In September 2006 the department name was changed to Counseling & Educational Psychology.

The department has 35 faculty members, representing various academic ranks and majors, and (1035) undergraduate students. It houses a Counseling Laboratory where services for students and faculty members are available.

The department offers the following academic programs:

1. Bachelor degree in Counseling Psychology.
2. Master degree in the fields of Educational Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Special Education, and Measurement and Evaluation.
3. Ph.D. degree in the fields of Educational Psychology, Counseling Psychology, and Measurement and Evaluation.
